Iguassu Falls named as natural wonder of the worldIguassu Falls have been named as one of the top eight natural wonders of the world by Wild Junket.

The falls, which straddle the borders of Argentina and Brazil, are taller than Niagara Falls in North America and twice as wide. They are made up of over 275 individual cascades spreading over two miles.

According to Wild Junket, Iguassu Falls offer both more spectacular views and better walkways than Niagara Falls or Victoria Falls, in Zambia and Zimbabwe.

"At the Devils Throat, you are standing in the midst of the torrential waters, surrounded by 360 degrees of waterfalls," the website explained.

Other locations which made it on to the list were Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, the Sahara Desert in North Africa, the Grand Canyon in the US, the Amazon Rainforest in South America and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

The Galapagos Islands in Ecuador were also included in the list for their rare and unique wildlife, including marine lizards, giant land tortoises and blue-footed boobies.
