CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA - 20TH DECEMBER (OVERNIGHT) - 21ST DECEMBER 3:00PM
cape-town-aerial-view.jpg

Cape Town is known by South Africans simply as ‘The Cape’, an acknowledgement of its uniqueness and its status as the Mother City. The first area to be settled by Europeans in the 17th century, this major seaport, accessed by the legendary Cape of Good Hope, is a cosmopolitan city of breathtaking beauty. Table Mountain provides its dramatic backdrop, with golden beaches and an intriguing culture adding to the allure of your first port of call.

AT SEA 22ND DECEMBER
PORT ELIZABETH, SOUTH AFRICA - 23RD DECEMBER 8:00AM
port-elizabeth.jpg

Follow in the footsteps of the settlers of the 1820s on their journey of discovery as you step ashore in Port Elizabeth. The ‘Windy City’ is home to South Africa’s oldest bowling green and the world-famous Port Elizabeth Cricket Club. Its Red Location Museum highlights the heroic efforts of the anti-apartheid movement and Route 67 showcases a collection of 67 works of art marking the years Nelson Mandela devoted to public life. Outside the city you will find the Addo Elephant Park – home to more than 600 of these majestic creatures.

EAST LONDON, SOUTH AFRICA - 24TH DECEMBER 8:00AM - 2:00PM
east-london.jpg

When the Xhosa people and white settlers met for the first time, a century-long battle ensued. Today the Xhosa are most welcoming and an invitation to Khaya La Bantu – an authentic Xhosa village where tradition is a part of everyday life – promises a memorable experience. Explore East London and its townships, or enjoy a thrilling wildlife safari at Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve – 4,000 hectares of forested river valleys and grasslands overlooking the Indian Ocean. Enjoy the Christmas festivities on board as Voyager sets sail for Mozambique.

AT SEA 25TH DECEMBER
MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE - 26TH DECEMBER 1:00PM (OVERNIGHT) - 27TH DECEMBER 1:00PM
maputo-mozambique.jpg

The Portuguese left their mark on Mozambique’s capital during their 500-year rule. Much was lost during almost 30 years of civil war, but since the 1992 peace treaty, Maputo has come a long way to returning to its former glory. Stroll amongst Mediterranean-style architecture and along wide, tree-lined avenues in one of Africa’s most attractive capitals. Discover the beautiful railway station, and head to Independence Square to view the gleaming white Roman Catholic Cathedral and neoclassical City Hall.

RICHARDS BAY, SOUTH AFRICA - 28TH DECEMBER 12:30PM (OVERNIGHT) - 29TH DECEMBER 9:00PM
richards-bay-hluhluwe-imfolozi.jpg

Founded in the 1880s, during the Anglo-Zulu colonial wars, Richards Bay was named after British Rear Admiral Sir Frederick William Richards, who landed a naval force here. It is the gateway to the land of the Zulu, one of Africa’s most fascinating tribal people. From here, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve is easily accessible. One of the world’s finest, it boasts a vast and surprisingly diverse landscape and gives you the chance to spot the ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and Cape buffalo.

DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA - 30TH DECEMBER 6:00AM (OVERNIGHT) - 31ST DECEMBER 4:00PM
durban-shakaland.jpg

British colonial architecture and natural beauty await in Durban. Perhaps head to the Shakaland Zulu Cultural Village, where you can experience the 19th century Zulu way of life, or simply stroll amongst the stalls of bustling Victoria Street Market. You could choose to head further afield to Tala Game Reserve, a fascinating wildlife sanctuary in the hills of a peaceful farming community. It is also your gateway to the Mandela Capture Site. The spot where Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1962 now displays a steel sculpture of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning civil rights activist. A special New Year’s Eve dinner will be served on board this evening as you set sail back to Cape Town.
