In cosmopolitan Mykonos you’ll discover traditional windmills and pretty whitewashed houses set amidst a maze of narrow streets and winding alleyways. The Panagia Paraportiani, Mykonos’ most famous church, is truly spectacular with its gleaming-white exterior and asymmetrical structure.

MILOS, GREECE - 3RD SEPTEMBER 8:00AM - 6:00PM

The island of Milos is the most westerly of the Cyclades Islands, natural hot springs go hand in hand with stunning beaches, incredible rock formations and intriguing historical sites. In 1820 Venus de Milo, a statue of Aphrodite, was found in an olive grove on the island. She’s now on display at the Louvre in Paris and is a lasting reminder of the ancient civilisation once found on Milos.

CRETE, GREECE - 4TH SEPTEMBER 7:00AM - 6:00PM

Step ashore in Chania and explore the wonderful old town where charming buildings and narrow alleys lead down to a beautiful Venetian harbour. On this wonderful island, glorious beaches in the north give way to dramatic cliffs and canyons in the south. There are mighty ancient fortresses and fascinating Minoan ruins to discover, as well Knossos, the capital of Minoan Crete with its dramatic palace complex.

RHODES, GREECE - 5TH SEPTEMBER 5:00PM (OVERNIGHT) - 6TH SEPTEMBER 1:00PM

Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese Islands, is Voyager’s next port of call. Once home to the Knights of St John, you’ll have plenty of time to discover this beautiful island during your overnight stay here. Highlights of the charming Old Town include the impressive Palace of the Grand Master and fascinating Archaeological Museum, found inside the 15th century Knight’s Hospital. Marvel at the incredible pink-domed Mosque of Suleyman, originally built to commemorate the Ottoman victory against the knights or browse the interesting collection of art at the Byzantine Museum, housed in the majestic church of the Panagia tou Kastrou.

SYMI, GREECE - 6TH SEPTEMBER 5:00PM - 11:00PM

Voyager makes another maiden call, this time to the tranquil island of Symi. As you approach the stunning harbour of Gialos, take your place on deck to admire the beautiful neoclassical houses which adorn the surrounding hillside. Ashore, head to the harbour front at Gialos and relax in one of the enticing tavernas.

KOS, GREECE - 7TH SEPTEMBER 7:00AM - 6:00PM

An island of sandy beaches, rich history and lush vegetation, Kos was the birthplace of Hippocrates, ‘Father of Medicine’. Discover Greek, Roman and Byzantine ruins at every turn in Kos Town or venture just outside the capital to explore the Asklepion, an ancient healing centre built to honour the god of health Asclepius.

Situated in the north Aegean Sea, the beautiful island of Lesvos was the birthplace of Sappho, a renowned poet of ancient Greece. Today the island’s landscape is dotted with delightful villages and historical monuments. In the east, the island’s olive groves are said to produce some of Greece’s finest olive oil.

DR ANN BIRCHALL (NADFAS)

Dr Ann Birchall holds BA. Hons, Classics (London University Masom Scholar), Ph.D., Archaeology (London University Institute of Archaeology). A Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, she is an archaeologist of international repute specialising in the history, art and archaeology of the Mediterranean. The first woman archaeologist appointed to the British Museum, Anne - as Assistant Keeper, Greek and Roman Antiquities, had special responsibility for ceramic collections and played a major part in the reorganisation ofthe galleries. An author and broadcaster on both radio and TV, Anne presented an award winning two-part BBC TV documentary on her excavations of one of Nelson’s ships, HMS Colossus. She has been a NADFAS speaker for many years.

MAJOR GENERAL PATRICK CORDINGLEY DSO DSC FRGS

Patrick Cordingley commanded the 7th Armoured Brigade - the Desert Rats - during the 1991 Gulf War. His huge tank formation led the British and American attack, which breached the Iraqi defences. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his bravery and leadership. In 1996 he was appointed Military Advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of Oman. Patrick retired from the Army in 2000 and was Chairman of a high-tech telecommunications company for 7 years. He is Chairman of the Defence and Security Forum and Chairman and Vice-chairman of two schools. Since 2009 Patrick has been appeal Chairman of the National Memorial Arboretum and he has also been Warden of the Court of the Ironmongers. He is also a successful motivational speaker. He is an author and a visiting scholar at the University of Hull, where he is a Doctor of Science.
